Scrap Weekend Page

Today was wonderful. I made this page yesterday so I'm posting it.  I spent the morning looking up all the names on the cards I had printed yesterday at the Temple. I did find 3 that were duplicates so I'm glad I took the time to make sure their work hadn't already been done. While I was doing this Tommy came in and asked me if I wanted to sign up for another 6 months at the cannery because we have to reapply in April. I said yes and he said he would get his Temple Recommend renewed so we could serve again. What a miracle!! I just love that man. So he went to the Bishop and Stake President and now is a card carrying member once more. Now we will have to get the papers from the Bishop and fill them out. We went to church and listened to the Jolley family talk. Sue is just so sweet and talked about genealogy.  After church I came home and worked on genealogy for a little bit. Then I made my dinner (everyone fended for themselves tonight) and frosted a cake John had made. He likes my homemade frosting. I gotta tell you I just can't stand the frosting in a can. Not good. I just make butter frosting like my mommy taught me. Yummy good. I had to load my two blog train kits to my grandmastemplates site because they have to be on for tomorrow. I got that all done and now I'm blogging for my journal.
Grateful Statement: I am grateful that I am able to do a journal. This has been such a blessing to put my everyday life on here. I love that it's fun and easy.

Sledding with Harrison and Hayden Page

This is the page I made at our Scrap Night last night. What fun we had! I had a request on my Rice Pudding post for the recipe so here it is:
RICE PUDDING
1 1/2 cups cooked rice
1/2 cup raisins, if desired
1/3 cup sugar
1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
2 cups milk, scalded
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 eggs, beaten
Heat oven to 350 degrees. In a 1 1/2 quart ungreased casserole, combine all ingredients; mix well. Place casserole in baking pan with about 1 inch hot water. Bake for 45 to 55 minutes or until a knife inserted in middle comes out clean. (You can omit scalding the milk and bake 50 to 65 minutes)

My very first ever recipe on my blog. I think it's really wonderful that we have a ward cookbook that has everyone's favorite recipes in them. What a treasure! I went down to visit with my mom this afternoon. She was feeling better and we talked for awhile. I came home and had Tommy drive me to Provo to the Temple so I could get my cards printed off. Now I have names to do. I was almost out. I came home and worked on a page which I will post tomorrow. It has been a good day.
Grateful Statement: I am so grateful for the Temple. I love the feeling you get just being on the Temple grounds. And when you walk through the front doors there is such a feeling of peace. The closest place to Heaven on earth.

Scrap Night

Today was a lazy day. I seem to have many of these now a days. I love retirement. I can have lazy days all I want. These are my scrapping buddies. They came over tonight to scrap with me. We had so much fun getting together. We did a Template Challenge and posted our stuff to Learn With Me. Going around the table Cindy, Lisa, Lori, Liz, Judy and Heather. Gerri came later. She had had a very difficult day. I love these ladies. Now that's a short post. I'll do better tomorrow. Maybe I should do something so I'll have something to blog about. Cindy was feeling bad about the popcorn on the floor. Molly didn't feel bad about it at all. When I brought her up stairs after everyone left you'd think Christmas was here. She was under that table in a flash gobbling up every kernel. So no worries Cindy, I have Molly the Vacuum Cleaner.
Grateful Statement: Today I am so grateful for my friends. They are so fun. They make me happy!

Views Page

I worked on this page this morning after I looked out the back of my house and saw the most beautiful view. What a place to live. Just Beautiful. At noon I went down to mom's and fed her lunch. She was just exhausted. She has congestive heart failure so she just gets so tired. I came home from mom's and made delicious Beef Stew. I have the best recipe from a hundred years ago. It always turns out so good. And I made Banana Pudding with Vanilla Wafers. That took forever. Amie called me down at mom's and told me she was going to can Chicken for me and needed 12 pint jars. Well I just happened to have the jars in my pantry so I took them down to her. Is that so sweet!! Like she isn't busy enough with all she has to do but she'll take time out to can for me. I love ya, Amie. I also decided not to go to my scrapping weekend. Hailey is playing in a baseball tournament in St George that weekend and I really want to go to that. I called Suzanne Perry to see if she wanted to take my place. I'll go next time for sure. I was just so torn between the two. Hard choices but I know I made the right one.
Grateful Statement: I am grateful for the beauty that Heavenly Father gave us on this earth. What a beautiful place to spend mortality!

Another Day in the Life of Me

Well it's kind of the same old thing. I went to my presidency meeting this morning. I can't say it enough, I just love those ladies I serve with. Then I went down to mom's to visit with her. I was able to feed her lunch and have them lay her back down. She seemed really tired. I made sure everything was good. I had to fight a small battle as they were going to put her on a different table because a couple of the residents were having problems. But I got Jason involved and they put my mom back to her original place at the table. My comment (not very nice) was "How come because 2 residents can't get along my mom has to be put at a different table." One of the resident that sat there said she didn't want grandma at her table because she was too noisy. You know those tea kettle that start boiling and spitting water out the spout. That's sort of the way I felt. Anyway it's all fixed now and they know I'm still going to fight tooth and nail for my mom. I came home and worked on separating kits all afternoon long just watching it snow. I had 2 blog train kits that took awhile to separate. I went to the market and got salad and fruit. My home teacher, Brother Duncan came to home teach us. He is so funny. We laugh alot. Now it's time for bed.
Grateful Statement: I am grateful for the Aides that take such good care of my mom. They work so hard and get paid so little. I am so grateful they are people that choose to take care of the elderly of this world. What would I do without them.

Dean's Birthday Page

I am so Happy!!! With the page above that I worked on today I have scrapped all of 2009. I scrapped 102 events and most of them are double pages. I love the fact that I can go back through my pages on this blog and see all that happened in my life. What an utter joy!! Tommy and I went to the cannery tonight. We were so busy. We had 23 people canning at the same time. Hopefully it keeps up and more people can add to their food storage. Now it's time to go watch American Idol. Good Night!
Grateful Statement: I am grateful for the time I have had this year to scrapbook. It is such a rewarding hobby for me to put together these books of my family. I am also grateful for the talent the Lord has given me to be able to do this.

Rice Pudding

I don't really know what I did this morning. I think I finished downloading the kits I bought. I went Visiting Teaching with Jacque. We visited Joan and Liz. Now we are done for the month. Then I made Rice Pudding for Yvonne and one for home and Chili Mac for dinner. I used to make this for my kids when they were little. It's easy and good. I went down to mom's and visited with her for awhile. She seemed a little out of it but she managed to talk to me. Then I came home and watched an episode of Criminal Minds so I wouldn't think about the Rice Pudding in the fridge. I'm just not going to start or I'll never quit. I really love it. Now I'm going to finish blogging and work on sorting all my new kits before I go to bed.
Grateful Statement: I am grateful for the opportunity I have to visit teach our assigned sisters and really get to know them. You so learn to love them when you visit teach them. I think Heavenly Father knew we needed our sisters.

Sweet Sabbath Day

I spent the morning preparing my lesson because I got to substitute in Primary teaching Hayden's class. They were such cute little kids. It really did make me want to teach again. I love little kids. Tommy and I went at 12:45pm. I love that Dean saves me a seat. I never have to worry where we are going to end up sitting. And it's so fun to sit by my grandkids. After church I went to visit mom for about an hour. I came home and ate the Rotisserie Chicken John made for us. So yummy. I talked with Janna and Kathy Porterfield tonight. Then I downloaded some kits I bought for $1.00. They are by Mel Haines. I love her kits. Now again I am blogging and getting ready for bed.
Grateful Statement: I am grateful for the opportunity to teach those sweet children about how much Heavenly Father and Jesus love and care for them. He watches over us all. Very sweet Sabbath day!

Basketball Game Day

I took this picture from my front porch with my zoom lens of the flag up at the city park. Looking at our flag makes me so proud to be an American. Pretty cool. Today was basketball games. This morning we went to Harrison's to watch him play. I talked to Lori and Amie at the game and took pictures. Then I came home and made a Banana Cake because I had 3 bananas that were going black. I talked to Judy for a little while. I hadn't talked with her in awhile. I really don't remember much else I did. I had Molly on the treadmill for 45 minutes. I worked on my computer organizing some of my stuff and downloaded some kits Judy told me about. I read over the lesson for Primary I am teaching tomorrow as a substitute. Then at 4:30 I went to Hailey State Champion game. It was a good game and they won Tooele. Their next game is in Logan on Tuesday so I won't be able to go. That's my mission night at the cannery. But I'll be to the next one. After the game Tommy and I went to the market. Now I'm home blogging and going to bed.
Grateful Statement: I am grateful for my wonderful childhood living on my grandma's ranch. We didn't have much but we were so happy. I think of the ranch often and how much fun all us cousins had together. I was truly blessed to have such a wonderful grandma help my mom raise me.

Cabela's Here We Come!

I got a call yesterday that an agent was bringing clients by at 9:30 am this morning. Because yesterday was a long and busy day I had a lot of work to do in my house. I didn't get home from Kara's class until 9:00 pm last night so I was so tired I didn't get all the things done that I needed to. So this morning I woke up at 5:00 and all I could smell was bell peppers and onions from all the cooking yesterday. So I scrubbed my kitchen from head to toe. I opened the windows and turned up the heater to air it out. By the time I was through all the food smells were gone. I finished cleaning the rest of the house. Tommy and John had vacuumed and dusted yesterday so I just had to pick up. We were out of the house by 9:20 and decided to go to Cabela's to exchange my slippers that Janna had gotten me for my birthday and John had never seen their store. It is ginormous! After we did that we went to pick up Tommy's suit at the cleaners and IFA to pick up dog food. Of course, Molly had to get car sick. No wonder she hates car rides. Poor little thing. You can just see it in her eyes. They get all sad. I came home from that and went visiting teaching to Arleen Hopkins. Jacque and I had fun talking to her. I finished this page from Idaho and now it's time for bed. I have been very tired all day long.
Grateful Statement: I am grateful for Jacque. She is a wonderful Visiting Teacher companion. She always has really good things to contribute.

Sick Little Austin Page

This is the page I made yesterday of Austin when he had the flu in Idaho. Today was an extremely busy day. I started off the morning going grocery shopping. John went with me so he could load and unload the groceries. Then I came home and started chopping up potatoes, carrots and onions for Kara's cooking class tonight. I got most of that done and took Lois Borklund to her radiation treatment in Provo. After we were through she took me to lunch at Brick Oven, my favorite place to eat. I dropped her off at her house and started on the Navajo Taco filling. I chopped more stuff. I got the recipe off of Cooks.com and it was pretty good. I tasted a little bit of it and I liked it. I also made Foil Dinners for Tommy and John. They turned out very good and the guys loved them. I just feel like I have been cooking all day long. Oh yeah, I have. But it was really fun. I forget how much fun I used to have cooking for my family. John wants Chicken Enchilada's so I'll have to work on that one. I went to Kara's cooking class and it was fabulous. Everyone stayed until about 9 just sampling the food and talking. Very Fun!!
Grateful Statement: Today I am grateful for Kara. She is so good to do all this for our Relief Society. And she's a dang funny lady too!

Bailee Sledding

Today was another fabulous day. I went to my presidency meeting this morning. I came home and finished this page of Bailee sledding and one of Austin that I will post tomorrow. I went down to mom's at 4:30 and met Amie there. They decorated heart shaped cookies with the residents. It was really fun to watch the Young Women. Hannah, Harrison and Hayden were there also. I forgot my camera or I could of taken a picture of them. My brain must have taken a leave of absence. Mom was in a great mood. She kept saying funny things. Lisa the activities director fed her a sugar cookie in milk. She takes such good care of my mom. Always teasing her and making her laugh.
Grateful Statement: I am grateful for Parkway Nursing and Rehab that take such good care of my mom. She is so loved down there. What would I do without a care facility for my sweet mom. It's so nice to know that they all call her grandma and truly care for her!!

No Cannery Today

I haven't been too productive today. Tommy went by himself to the cannery. I picked up Yvonne Norton and brought her home from the doctors. Then I took her to Saratoga Springs to get her garage door opener from her car so she could get into her house. Walt was babysitting their cute little grandkids out there and had their car. We had a good time talking and laughing. I think she was so worn out by the time we got home that she could barely make it in her door. I'm glad I was able to do that for her. She is such a dear friend.
Grateful Statement: I am grateful for the years I have known Yvonne and all the trips to the genealogy library that we have shared. Every time I didn't know which way to go on my research she was always so willing to help me. Thanks Yvonne, for all the great tutoring!

French Tulips Preview

I made this kit today for the blog train at Stuff to Scrap. I needed to get these done so I don't have to think about them anymore. Now I can concentrate on my lesson for the first Sunday of March. I really get stressed when I have to teach. But if anything makes me grow it's good for me. So they say. By the way who are they anyway. I had 2 houses and 2 trees that I forgot to put away in my Christmas stuff so John got all my boxes down and I found where they went then I put everything away in it's place so the storage room looks nice and tidy. I also made the Cottage Cheese, Cool Whip, Jello thingy that my family really loves. It's so easy to make. I also made tacos for dinner. I had taco meat on top of lettuce. It was very yummy. It would have been perfect if I had Fritos to put in it for crunch. I also did more laundry but now it's done until next week. That's been my day. Don't I live an exciting life.
Grateful Statement: I am so grateful that I had a stepdad that was a chef. He taught me so many things. I was always calling him for advice. And my mom was the candy, bread, cake maker so I learned tons of things from both of them. We certainly enjoyed many New Year Eve dinners at their house. Thanks, Mom and Dad for all those cooking lessons.

Another Wonderful Sabbath

Today was an exceptional day. One small mishap. I went to church at 9 and after I got there realized it was the 4th Ward. No wonder I didn't recognize anyone. Tommy had said we went in the afternoon but I was just sure it was at 9am. Senility could be a possibility. I went to the right Ward without Tommy. He said he had an earache. It was the farewell of the Hassell's. Brother Hassell is my home teacher and I will dearly miss him and Sister Hassell. The talks were wonderful and the rest of the meetings were too. Hayden called me to tell me to come for a Valentine's Dinner at 5:30. What a cute boy. We went and had dinner with Dean and Amie. How sweet of Amie to think of us. It was delicious and Amie made us a Cheesecake for dessert. Wow, was it ever so good. I just love this family. I came home and made phone calls and now I'm blogging and then I'm going to bed.
Grateful Statement: I am grateful for my fabulous brother Johnnie. He called me tonight to see how we were. He is so very sweet. I love him with all my heart. He has always been the rock in our family trying to keep his siblings on the straight and narrow.

Eternal Marriage Made Over

Today has been the best day. I woke up feeling wonderful. I knew my tiredness had to stop soon. I did laundry, made new elements for this blog train (I like them much better), balanced my checkbook and paid my bills and didn't have to lay down in between doing stuff. John helped me clean out my fridge. It is all shiny and clean. I really LOVE a clean  fridge. I went down to visit mom. They found her phone so that's good. She was very tired and just couldn't stay awake so I only stayed about 30 minutes. Tonight we went to the Tuckett's for their annual Valentine's Dinner for the old folks in the ward. I'm so glad I qualify. Nancy Ekins did her Polly Esther routine. I laughed so hard I couldn't breathe. They served Prime Rib, Carrots, Baked Potato, Hot Rolls, Salad and 3 kinds of desserts. Yum Yum!! What a dear family they are. All the kids served us our food and took our dishes away when we were through. How proud Susan must be of them.
Grateful Statement: I'm so grateful for this ward and people like the Tuckett's that care about the older people and want them to have a good Valentine's. I really love this ward and feel I'm in the company of true Saints as I rub elbows with everyone.

Feeding

I made this page today in between doing nothing. I just couldn't get any energy going. I think I went outside and played with the dog once, made Oatmeal Cookies and meatloaf for dinner and did this page. That's it. The rest of the time I was laying in bed. You know that kind of tired that just kicks your bootie. That's what I had today. I want to wake up in the morning and have a ton of energy.
Grateful Statement: I am grateful for the sunshine we had this afternoon. I know that Heavenly Father sent it just to me to make me feel better and not so gloomy. What would we do without the gift of sunshine!!

Eternal Marriage Preview

I worked on this Blog Train today. I like to post them and then look at them for awhile to see if I like them. We aren't supposed to use anything that is recolored so I'm not sure about the flowers. We'll see if it grows on me. I went to visit mom. She was feeling good. They are trying to find her phone someone took out of her room. Hopefully they will find it. I went to Kara cooking class tonight. She made some yummy Chicken Pot Pie, Enchilada's, Black Bean Soup and Chicken Fried Rice. What a treat to get together with the sisters and laugh and have a good time and learn to cook new things all at the same time.
Grateful Statement: I'm so grateful for the sisters in our ward that are so willing to do things for each other. Kara spent a lot of time preparing these classes and we are so grateful she was willing to put that much time into classes for us.

Christmas Page

I had a great day. I went to my presidency meeting this morning. Then I straightened up the house a little. Amie came over and we cut out some letters for a Science Project Harrison has. Then I went to visit mom. I hadn't been there since I left for Idaho so I really needed to see my mom. I was battling a headache for 2 days and just couldn't make myself go anywhere. She was doing really good. She said she wished her kids were there with her. I told her that Johnnie my older brother was still here. She asked where he was and I told her he was still in Arizona. Such a look of relief came over her face. I hope Phyllis gets feeling better soon so they can come out to visit. Mom always wanted all us kids around her. Her biggest joy was when she could have a dinner for us. Tonight I worked on this page and finished it. I used the "Old Fashioned Christmas" kit that we made as a Colaboration. I am in love with this Doodle Track Action.
Grateful Statement: I am grateful for the Book of Mormon. And my son Dean who has such a strong testimony of it. I talked with him this morning and he testified of the Book of Mormon and how awesome it is. And that it tells of the Savior and Heavenly Father coming down to earth to talk with Joseph Smith. I want to go back to New York and visit the Sacred Grove again.

Canning Galore

We were so busy at the cannery tonight. We had all our tables full of people canning. There was a group of Young Men canning for their ward, three couples that were on a date at the cannery and then out to dinner. A man and his two young sons that worked like troopers and a lady canning Spaghetti. All at once! I love it when we are busy. The time just flies by. I had the old headache this morning but by afternoon it was gone. So I didn't do much. I have to do 2 blog trains by Feb 22 so I found all the stuff I needed for them so I can start tomorrow. I love to make kits. It's always hard to figure out what direction I want to go but eventually I finally get it.
Grateful Statement: I am grateful for the wonderful missionaries that I get to work with at the cannery. They are such hard workers. We really have a good time working together. Thanks Sister Rose, Sister Mauss and Brother and Sister McQueen. I love them all!!

Home Sweet Home Again

We are home! I love going places but really love coming home to my warm cozy house. When we left Rigby this morning it was 2 degrees. Now that is cold cold cold. I slept all the way home off and on. I had a headache all day long and still have one. Don't know what that's all about but it will be gone tomorrow, I just know it. Now I'm going to bed. Still tired and need to sleep.
Grateful Statement: I am so grateful for Advil. I know that's not a big deal until you have a headache and it takes it away for awhile. So, yes today I AM grateful for Advil.

Harley Anne's Birthday

Today was Harley's birthday so her mom made her favorite food which was Lasagne and I made her her favorite cake. Brownies with walnuts. She had a good day and got stuff for her horses. I got her a D ring bit to go with her head dress. She also got a new Saddle. She is set for riding her horses. She was riding one today with a halter. I'm glad I was able to be here for her birthday.
Grateful Statement: I'm grateful for the Spirit as it teaches me what to do and not to do. I decided that I would come here and take everyone to church. As I tried to get everyone to want to go to church I was losing the battle fast. Then you could feel the annoyance build. Then the Spirit taught me that I can't decide for others what they need to do. That's Satan's plan and he was very alive and well in the Barry household this morning and I wasn't helping any so I just backed off and decided I would pray about this and be led by the Spirit what I need to do next. After I finally gave it up and said a pray the whole atmosphere changed in the house. Enough said!!

Harrison

Janna and I went shopping today to Winco Market, JC Penney's and Cal Ranch for Harley's birthday present. I got Tommy a white shirt for church tomorrow at Penney's. We came home and I worked on this page and made Cornish Hens stuffed with Wild Rice. Then worked on this page some more. It was one of those pages that I just couldn't get right so it took me off and on, all day. Tonight we are watching the Jazz game or should I say I'm listening to it, kind of.
Grateful Statement: I am grateful for my computer and the fact that I always have something fun to do as long as I have it with me. And it's wonderful for doing genealogy.

Hayden Wrestling Page

What a crazy day. I worked on this page all day. I had to break down this Back to School kit that was enormous and it took forever. So with all that and working on this page I finally got it just the way I wanted it. We left and went out to dinner at "The New Star" Chinese Restaurant. Such good food. After coming back home I tried to save this page and it wouldn't save. I couldn't believe it. So I put all the pictures on it again and tried to save and it still wouldn't save. I had to open the template and duplicate it and save it. That finally worked and I was able to recreate it again. I have no idea what was wrong which is even more frustrating. But it's done so I'm happy. It snowed up here all day long.
Now it's late and I'm heading for bed.
Grateful Statement: I'm grateful that I am able to come to Idaho whenever I want to. Thankful that I was able to retire. God is Good!!!

Dribble

I had a hard time sleeping last night. New bed always makes for a sleepless night for me. I did laundry and dishes today and worked on this page of Hailey's Basketball game. Very relaxing day. I am going to try to make at least one page every day while I am here. Janna and Scott have gone bowling and Bailee made a chocolate cake all by herself but she forgot to grease the pan. So I had to help her put it back in the bowl and wash the pan and grease it. She is quite the little cooker. It's good to be visiting these little munchkins.
Grateful Statement: I am grateful for the love my daughter has for me. She is so sweet to me and always makes me feel welcome. I know she will always be there when I need her. Thanks Sis, for who you are. A loving, caring daughter to me!!

We Made It To Idaho

I had my presidency meeting this morning and then came home and packed my stuff for Idaho. The oven man came to fix my oven. $647.00 later it better be fixed. We left before he was finished. Thank goodness John is there so we didn't have to wait. We stopped by mom's so I could say goodbye. She was taking a nap but woke up long enough to say goodbye. On the way through Lehi we stopped at Cabella's so I could take my slippers back Janna and Scott got me for my birthday. Of course they didn't have anymore of the in the store and had to get another pair from another store. We finally made it here about 7pm. Again I'm really tired from sitting in the car doing nothing.
Grateful Statement: I am grateful for Austin Christopher Kulow. He is the sweetest little guy ever. He sat outside on the porch waiting for me to arrive. I called him to tell him to wait inside and I'd call him when we turned the corner. I love the way he makes me feel so special.

Austin Riding English Page

I just decided I would work on a page that I made all the stuff for. I made the Overlay, Paper, and Frames. I did use Delicious Scraps for the swirls and hearts. Atomic cupcake for the actions. I have decided I need to do more with elements and learn how to make my own. So this is the page I came up with. It's not one of my favorite but I learned some things doing it so, "mission accomplished". Tommy and I went to the cannery this afternoon and we were pretty busy. Then we stopped by mom's on the way home so I could give her a good night hug.
Grateful Statement: I am grateful for being able to serve a mission with Tommy. It is just so much fun and I love serving with Tommy. It's like a date night. LOL!

Hey Mr Groundhog

I spent most of this day downloading the "Hey, Mr. Groundhog" kit, organizing more of my files and downloading my Scrap Girl Club kit. Basically just messing around. What a wasted day. I just remembered I did pay my bills today and I remained happy and wasn't grumpy like usual.  Tomorrow I am going to accomplish something really big. Maybe.... I don't think I posted my preview of the kit I made for Stuff to Scrap Blog Train. Then I forgot to register so I'm not on it. What a dufus I am. But I put it on Grandma's Templates for people to download. I have fun making Kits.
Grateful Statement: I am grateful for the beautiful Sunny day we had today. Sunshine just makes me happy. I know Heavenly Father gave us it today so we could all have our spirits uplifted.

Lazy Day

Lunch Yesterday I made a Keto Bacon Cheeseburger Casserole for dinner. AJ liked it but not Janna. Oh well. So today I had it for lunc...
